Fairfield to Meet Canisius in the 2012 Women's Lacrosse Championship

Buffalo, N.Y. - Top-seeded Fairfield University will face second-seeded Canisius College in the 2012 Women's Lacrosse Championship game on the campus of Canisius College at Demske Sports Complex in Buffalo, N.Y.
This will be the second consecutive year that these two schools meet in the championship game. In the 2011 Women's Lacrosse Championship, second-seeded Canisius defeated top-seeded Fairfield 13-8.
Fairfield finished the regular season undefeated in MAAC play for the fifth consecutive season going 6-0 and extending its streak to 30-0. The Stags defeated fourth-seeded Siena 10-4 in their semifinals game. This will be their fifth consecutive trip to the championship game. The Stags are 1-4 all-time in the
championship game, only winning the title in 2009.
Canisius, the second seed in the tournament, defeated Marist 14-5 in its semifinal match-up. The Golden Griffins are looking to repeat as MAAC champions and win their second title in school history. The Griffs are 1-1 all-time in the championship game.
The winner of the championship will receive the MAAC's
automatic bid to the 2012 NCAA Division I Women's Lacrosse Championship play-in game against the winner of the Atlantic 10 Conference.
