Green averaged 14 points per game, 9.5 assists per game and 7 rebounds per game while setting a career-high in rebounds and tying career-highs in assists, steals and blocks as the Niagara Purple Eagles extended their conference win streak to nine games with wins at Siena and Canisius. He played arguably his best all-around game as a Purple Eagle in the win at Siena on Jan. 25. Green notched his first career double-double with 19 points while tying a career-best 11 assists and had one turnover in 40 minutes, and his career-high nine rebounds left him one board shy of the program's second ever triple-double. Green also tied a career high with two blocks. He ended the game going 4-for-4 at the line, including getting a steal, to help Niagara to a 78-69 win. Green helped the Purple Eagles erase a 10-point second-half deficit to come away with a dramatic win at Canisius on Sunday. He had the assist on the game-winning 3-pointer in the 66-65 win, played in front of a sold-out crowd on ESPN3. Green's game-high eighth assist occurred on the final play of the game with four seconds left. Green had a game-high five steals, which tied a career best, scored nine points and added five rebounds.
Evan Hymes, Siena, So., G, 5-8, 147, Durham, N.C./Kestrel Heights Charter
Hymes averaged 25.5 points and 5.5 assists while shooting 62% (13-21) from the field, 70% (7-10) from 3-point range and 95% (18-19) from the free throw line. Hymes dropped 30 points for the second time in his young career in Siena's narrow loss to first-place Niagara and added six assists. He scored 12 of his 30 during a late second half run that helped Siena cut a 12-point lead to a single point with less than two minutes to play. Hymes then had 21 points and five assists in the Saints' win at archrival Marist. Hymes' three 3-pointers came during a decisive stretch at the beginning of the second half that helped Siena push its lead to 15. Hymes sealed the win by grabbing a key rebound with 26 seconds left and Siena up just 3.
Rookie of the Week
Amadou Sidibe, Fairfield, Fr., F, 6-8, 215, Bronx, N.Y./Cardinal Hayes HS
Sidibe averaged a near double-double for the week with 9.3 points and nine rebounds per game as the Stags posted a 2-1 record. He started the week with a double-double, registering 12 points and 11 rebounds in a loss to Loyola. He came back with six points and nine rebounds and made all three of his field goal attempts in a win over Marist. He closed the week with 10 points and nine rebounds in a victory against Saint Peter's, making four straight free throws down the stretch after the Peacocks cut the lead from 12 to four points with under a minute remaining. For the week, Sidibe shot 69 percent (11 of 16) from the floor and 86 percent (6 of 7) from the free throw line.
