Three Earn TV Spots for 2013 Ramada BracketBusters

Edison, N.J. - Three MAAC men's basketball teams earned a televised game as part of their matchups for the 11th annual ESPN Ramada BracketBusters, which will take place Feb. 22-24.

Iona College earned a spot on ESPNU, taking on Indiana State University on Saturday, Feb. 23 at 11 a.m. at the Hulman Center in Terre Haute, Ind. The Gaels are 14-9 overall and in a three-way tie for second place in the MAAC standings at 8-4.  Senior guard Lamont Jones is contributing a league-high 21.9 points and 3.7 assists per game, while junior guard Sean Armand is averaging 17.7 points and 5.2 rebounds an outing for the Maroon and Gold. Indiana State is currently 14-8 overall and 7-4 in the Missouri Valley Conference. The Sycamores are led by junior guard Jake Odom, who is posting 13.9 points and 4.5 rebounds per game, and junior forward Manny Arop, who is registering 12.9 points and 5.0 caroms a night.

Canisius College will take on the University of Vermont on Feb. 23 at 1 p.m. at Patrick Gymnasium in Burlington, Vt., live on ESPN3.  The Golden Griffins are on a two-game win streak, in a three-way tie for second place in the MAAC at 8-4 and own an overall record of 15-8.  Canisius is led by junior guard Billy Baron, who is averaging 16.3 points and 4.4 rebounds per game, and senior guard Isaac Sosa, who is contributing 13.0 points and 2.1 caroms a night for the Griffs.  Vermont is currently 14-7 overall and 7-2 in the America East Conference.  The Catamounts are led by junior forward Clancy Rugg, who is posting 11.1 points and 5.8 rebounds per game, and junior guard Sandro Carissimo, who is netting 10.1 points and dishing out 2.3 assists a night.  Canisius holds a 16-1 advantage over Vermont in the all-time series between the schools.

Niagara University will host Northwestern State University for a 3 p.m. contest on Feb. 23 at the Gallagher Center on ESPN3. The Purple Eagles are currently in first place in the MAAC with a league mark of 10-2 and have an overall record of 14-9.  Redshirt sophomore Antoine Mason is averaging 18.9 points and 4.3 rebounds per game for Niagara, while sophomore guard Juan'ya Green is recording 16.7 points and 5.2 assists an outing.  Northwestern State, which is 14-6 overall and 8-2 in the Southland Conference, are led by junior forward DeQuan Hicks, who is registering 15.1 points and 6.8 rebounds per game, and senior guard Shamir Davis, who is posting 12.8 points and 2.4 caroms a night for the Demons. This game will mark the first meeting between Niagara and Northwestern State.
