Martinez, Beynnon and McKenzie Earn All Met Honors

Edison, N.J. – The 2012-13 All Met Division I women’s college basketball teams were announced Friday by the Met Basketball Writers Association. Among the list of were Iona College’s Damika Martinez, Marist College’s Elizabeth Beynnon and Rider University’s MyNeshia McKenzie.
The Haggerty Dinner is the longest running college basketball awards program conducted by a media group in the United States.
Martinez, a 5-7 Sophomore Guard from Meriden, Connecticut was named to the All Met First Team. She led the Conference in scoring with 18.1 points per game and three point field goals made netting 79 on the season. Named the 2013 Pepsi Max MAAC Player of the Year, Martinez added 5.2 rebounds, 2.4 assists, and 1.1 steals per game for the Gaels.
Beynnon, a 6-2 Senior Forward from Burlington, Vermont joins as a member of the All Met First Team. She led the Marist Red Foxes to their eighth consecutive MAAC Championship title. Beynnon led her team in scoring with an average of 12.0 points per game and a field goal percentage of .489. She added 4.2 rebounds per game and was named to the All-MAAC Second Team in 2013.
McKenzie, a 5-11 Senior Forward/Guard from Springfield, Pennsylvania, was named to the All Met Second Team. She earned a spot on the 2013 All-MAAC First Team and added 14.2 points, 9.8 rebounds and 1.9 steals per game for the Broncs.
Award recipients will be honored at the 80th NIT/MBWA Haggerty Awards Dinner on April 15 at the Westchester Marriott.
