Grenci & Sosa Selected to Division I-AAA ADA Scholar Athlete Team

Edison, N.J. – Two MAAC student-athletes were named to the 11th Annual Division I-AAA Athletics Directors Association Scholar Athlete Team. Canisius College’s Isaac Sosa and Siena College’s Lily Grenci are among the twenty basketball student-athletes, 10 male and 10 female, selected from around the country to be honored for their work both on the court and in the classroom.

Basketball players from all Division I-AAA ADA member institutions are eligible for these prestigious awards. Each of the nominees was required to have a minimum grade point average of 3.20 (on a 4.00 scale) in undergraduate study and have been a starter or important reserve with legitimate athletics credentials.

Sosa, a native of Guaynabo, Puerto Rico has a 3.48 grade point average as a finance major at Canisius. He will graduate with his undergraduate degree in May from Canisius. The 6-3 Senior Guard averaged 11.6 points and 2.0 rebounds per game. He ranked second in the MAAC with 2.8 three point goals per contest and finished with a 40.9 percent shooting average behind the arc.

Grenci, a native of Mars, Pennsylvania, receives this honor for the second straight season. Currently she has a 3.86 grade point average majoring in sociology. She was named to the MAAC All-Academic team three times and named a candidate for the Senior CLASS Award in the fall. The 6-1 Senior Forward was named to the All-MAAC First Team in 2012 and 2013. She averaged 15.9 points, 9.5 rebounds and 1.7 steals per game for the Saints.
