Monmouth Completes Field for 2015 Orlando Classic
ESPN Events, a subsidiary of ESPN, announced today the complete field for the 2015 Orlando Classic, to be held Thanksgiving weekend at HP Field House at ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex at Walt Disney World Resort near Orlando, Fla. The bracket-format tournament features 12 games over three days, November 26, 27 and 29. The teams compete once per day, advancing with a victory. The two remaining undefeated teams will face off in a championship game.
Monmouth rounds out the eight-team field for the 10th annual Orlando Classic. The Hawks have started the 2014-2015 season with a 2-2 record. They fell to West Virginia in the season opener by the score of 64-54, then notched impressive wins against Bethune-Cookman and Central Connecticut State before losing to Towson 79-75 in overtime last Sunday. They play the University of Maryland tonight in College Park.
The other teams, announced previously: Alabama, Dayton, Iowa, Notre Dame, Southern California, Wichita State and Xavier.
Dayton, Iowa, Wichita State and Xavier all earned 2014 NCAA Championship berths. Dayton advanced to the Elite Eight and Wichita State made an appearance in the third round, while Iowa and Xavier played in First Four games. Wichita State stands at No. 9 in the Associated Press poll (Nov. 24), while Dayton also received votes.
