Four ESPN Telecasts Highlight this Week's Men's Basketball Schedule

EDISON, N.J. – The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference ESPN telecast package continues this week on Thursday, Jan. 22 with a doubleheader at Fairfield and two broadcasts on Friday, Jan. 23 at Quinnipiac and Siena.

The MAAC men’s basketball schedule resumes this week on Wednesday (Jan. 21), with Saint Peter’s hosting Quinnipiac at 7 p.m. In the teams’ first meeting on Jan. 2 in Hamden, Connecticut, Saint Peter’s picked up a 66-60 road win that gave the Peacocks their first conference win of the season, and dropped the Bobcats to 0-3. Both teams enter the final regular season meeting with identical 3-5 league marks.

Monmouth also takes on UPenn in out-of-conference action at 7 p.m.

On Thursday (Jan. 22), Fairfield hosts a doubleheader at Webster Bank Arena in Bridgeport, Connecticut. The night begins at 5 p.m. with Fairfield hosting Rider in women’s basketball, followed by Fairfield hosting Canisius in men’s basketball. Both games will be televised on ESPN3. The Stags bring an even 4-4 MAAC record into the contest, while the Griffs sit tied for fourth with a 5-3 mark.

Two of the league’s top three teams will square off at 7 p.m. when Rider hosts Iona. The two met back on December 10 in New Rochelle, New York, where the Gaels earned a 77-64 home win.

Friday’s (Jan. 23) schedule includes three ESPN broadcasts, highlighted by two MAAC wildcard contests. On ESPNU at 7 p.m., Quinnipiac hosts Manhattan in one of the wildcard games. The Jaspers currently hold a 5-3 conference record. The two teams last met in the semifinal round of the 2014 MAAC Championship, where Manhattan topped Quinnipiac, 87-68.

On ESPN3 at 7 p.m. in the second wildcard contest of the day, Siena hosts Marist. The Saints are 4-4 in MAAC action, and the Red Foxes seek their first league win of the season.

Monmouth will host Niagara in West Long Branch, New Jersey, on ESPN3 at 7 p.m. The Hawks defeated the Purple Eagles, 66-50, on the road on Jan. 2, in their first matchup of 2014-15. Monmouth is currently tied for first place in the league standings along with Iona and Rider at 6-2. Niagara’s MAAC record coming into the contest is 2-6.

The lone game on Saturday’s (Jan. 24) slate puts Canisius at Rider with tipoff set for 7 p.m.

The week concludes on Sunday (Jan. 25) with a full slate of games. At 2 p.m., Manhattan is home against Monmouth for the first season meeting between the schools.

Marist hosts Fairfield in Poughkeepsie, New York, at 2 p.m. The teams met just nine days ago on Jan. 16, as the Stags knocked off the Red Foxes, 60-54. Also a 2 p.m., Siena welcomes Saint Peter’s to the Times Union Center in Albany, New York.

At 4:30 p.m., Iona and Niagara will conclude their season series at Madison Square Garden in New York, New York. The two teams battled it out on ESPNU last week on Jan. 16 to an 80-79 Gaels victory that featured four lead changes in the final 31 seconds of play.

The 2015 season culminates at the 2015 MAAC Men’s and Women’s Basketball Championships at the Times Union Center in Albany, New York March 5-9. Tickets for the championships are available online at ticketmaster.com.
