MAAC Men's Basketball Quarterfinal Round Set for Saturday

ALBANY, N.Y. – The 2015 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Men's Basketball Championship quarterfinals are set for Saturday, March 7 on ESPN3 at the Times Union Center in Albany, New York.
The quarterfinals kick off at noon with top-seeded Iona College (24-7, 17-3) and No. 8 Siena College (11-19, 7-13) playing. Iona earned wins in both regular season matchups between the teams. The Gaels picked up the 86-72, victory on Jan. 04 in their first meeting with the Saints and won 87-83, on Feb. 06 in the final contest. The winner will advance to the semifinal round on Sunday, March 8 at 4:30 p.m. on ESPN3.
In the second quarterfinal contest, No. 4 Monmouth University (17-14, 13-7) faces No. 5 Canisius College (16-13, 11-9) at 2:30 p.m. Monmouth took both of this season’s meetings against Canisius. On Jan. 02, the Hawks won, 73-68, and on Feb. 08, they were victorious over the Griffs, 44-40. The winner will meet the victor of the first quarterfinal game, in the 4:30 p.m. semifinal contest.
At 5:30 p.m. No. 2 Rider University (21-10, 15-5) faces instate hOURglass rival, No. 7 Saint Peter’s University (15-17, 8-12), with tip time at 5:30 p.m. Rider swept the season series with Saint Peter’s. The Broncs won the first matchup on Jan. 10, 68-55, and earned a 58-49 win on Jan. 29. The winner will move on to Sunday’s semifinal contest at 7:00 p.m.
The final quarterfinal will feature No. 3 Manhattan College (16-13, 13-7) and No. 11 Marist College (5-15, 7-24) playing at 8:00 p.m. Manhattan won the regular season games against Marist. The Jaspers earned a 60-38, win on Dec. 07, and a 67-54, win on Feb. 23. The winner will take on the third quarterfinal game winner in the semifinal round at 7:00 p.m.
