Manhattan Earns Win over Marist and Advances to the MAAC Championship Semifinal Round

ALBANY, N.Y. – No. 3 Manhattan College earns a 74-58 win over No. 11 Marist College in the quarterfinal round of the MAAC Men’s Basketball Championship at the Times Union Center in Albany, New York.
Manhattan’s Emmy Andujar scored a basket with just over 16 minutes on the game clock, giving the Jaspers an 11-5 lead early in the game. Marist quickly responded scoring 11unanswered points, which was led by Chavaughn Lewis who scored six of the points, giving the Red Foxes a 16-11lead with 13 and a half minutes to go in the half. Manhattan eventually tied the game back up at 16 and put together a 14-2 run pushing its lead to 12 with 6:37 left. The Jaspers would take a 38-22 lead into the half.
In the second half, Manhattan kept the pace, upping its lead to as much as 18 points and never allowing Marist to get within single digits.
Andujar ended the game with a game high 24 points, 10 rebounds, and five assists for a double-double, while teammates Shane Richards and Ashton Pankey scored 18 and 16 points respectively. Marist was led by Lewis, who finished the night scoring 22 points and making him the only Red Fox to score in double figures.
Manhattan moves into the semifinal round of the championship on Sunday and will meet No. 7 Saint Peter’s at 7:00 p.m. on ESPN3.
