Semifinal Matchups set in the MAAC Men's Basketball Championship

ALBANY, N.Y. – The semifinals are set for the 2015 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Men’s Basketball Championship, to be played Sunday, March 8 at 4:30 p.m. and 7:00 p.m., at the Times Union Center in Albany, New York. Both games will be telecast live on ESPN3.
The first semifinal contest features No. 1 Iona College facing No. 4 Monmouth University. The Gaels and the Hawks split their regular season meetings with each other. The two first met back on Dec. 07, with Monmouth picking up the 92-89, home victory to open up league play for the season. The teams met again on Feb. 22 in New Rochelle where the Gaels earned a 69-68 win.
Iona is making its fifth consecutive trip to the semifinal round, while the semifinal appearance for Monmouth is the first since joining the league last season.
No. 3 Manhattan College meets No. 7 Saint Peter’s University in the second semifinal of the evening. Manhattan swept the regular season series against Saint Peter’s in the 2014-15 campaign. The Jaspers were victorious in the first meeting on Jan. 07, 68-63, and won the second matchup on Jan. 16, 7 2-65.
Manhattan makes it three straight semifinal appearances, while Saint Peter’s makes its first final four since the 2011 championship, which was also the last time the Peacocks won the title. The last time the two teams met in the championship was in the first round of the 2008 championship where No. 8 Manhattan beat No. 9 Saint Peter’s, 73-59.
