Iona's David Laury Named ECAC All-Star

EDISON, N.J. - Iona College men's basketball senior David Laury has been announced to the 2014-15 Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division I Men’s Basketball All-Stars Second Team.

Laury, a 6-foot-9, senior forward from East Orange, New Jersey, was a unanimous selection to the All-MAAC First team, named the 2015 MAAC Player of the Year, and selected to the All-Championship team. In addition to his MAAC accolades, he was also named to the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) District I First Team and the Lou Henson All-American Team. In February, he was named one of sixteen candidates for the first-ever Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame Karl Malone Power Forward of the Year Award, which will be awarded at ESPN’s new College Basketball Awards presented by Wendy’s from Club Nokia in Los Angeles, CA on Friday, April 10, 2015.

Laury averaged 19.8 points per game and 9.7 rebounds per game to lead Iona to the conference regular season crown and an appearance in its third-straight MAAC championship title game. He was named MAAC Player of the Week a league-best three times and recorded 19 double-doubles in his senior campaign.  

Laury is currently participating in the 63rd annual Portsmouth Invitational Tournament at Churchland High School Sports Complex in Portsmouth, Va.
