Iona and Monmouth Ranked in Mid-Major Top 25

EDISON, NJ– Iona College and Monmouth University men’s basketball teams ranked in the College Insider Mid-Major Top 25 polls. Iona is currently ranked 13th in the poll after being ranked sixth in the preseason. Monmouth checked in at 22nd in the poll after not being ranked previously. The ranking is also the first in program history for the Hawks.
Iona (0-1) fell in its season opener to Valparaiso on Sunday evening. The Gaels return to action tonight at 10:00 p.m., taking on Oregon State in Corvallis, Oregon.
Monmouth (1-1) earned its first win against a PAC-12 opponent on Friday night, coming back from a 13-point second half deficit and a five-point margin in overtime to defeat UCLA at historic Pauley Pavilion in Los Angeles, California. The Hawks fell to USC on Monday in its second game of the young season and continue its campaign on Saturday at Drexel in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
