Player of the Week

Marquis Wright, Siena

Jr., G, 6-0, 190, Woldorf, MD/North Point

Wright scored 11 of his game-high 20 points in the final 5:25 to lead Siena to a 73-70 Franciscan Cup victory over sister school St. Bonaventure of the Atlantic 10. Wright made 4-6 three-pointers, including a game-tying shot from well past the arc with 3:05 left. He rounded out his first double-double of the season with 10 assists, and made all four of his free throws, including the clinching pair with eight seconds left. Wright added two steals in 38 minutes played, and he is one of just three players in the nation averaging better than 17 points, four rebounds, four assists, and two steals per game (Ben Simmons of LSU and Alex Hamilton of Louisiana Tech are the others). Wright is shooting a MAAC-best 55% (23-42) from three-point range this season after shooting just 24% (20-83) in his first two seasons combined. He has reached double figures in all 12 games for the Saints this season, and helped the team to an 8-2 record in its last 10 games.
