Monmouth University Clinches No.1 Seed in the 2016 MAAC Championship

EDISON, NJ – The Monmouth University men’s basketball team has clinched the top overall seed in the upcoming 2016 MAAC Championship with its win over Rider University on Friday, February 26. The Hawks also earn a share of the regular season title.
With clinching the number one overall seed, the Hawks earn a first round bye in the 2016 MAAC Championship. They will face the winner of the #8 vs #9 matchup on Friday, March 4 at 7:00 p.m. The game will be broadcasted live on ESPN3. Monmouth University is having a historic 2016 campaign after earning its first win over a ranked opponent and setting a program Division I record for wins in a season.
The 2015-16 MAAC season culminates at the 2016 MAAC Basketball Championships, March 3-7, at the Times Union Center in Albany, New York. The 2016 MAAC Championship title game will take place on Monday, March 7 at 7:00 p.m. and will air live on ESPN with the winner earning the leagues automatic bid to the NCAA Championship.
