Iona College Claims 26th Consecutive MAAC Men's Cross Country Championship

LAKE BUENA VISTA,  FL – The Iona College Men's Cross Country Team claimed its 26th straight MAAC Championship at the ESPN Wide World Of Sports in Lake Buena Vista, Florida.

The Gaels were led by the 2016 Male Most Outstanding Runner, Kieran Clements, who ran a 24:38.37, who paced his championship winning team. Iona College recorded its fourth straight perfect score and 15th straight individual championship. Out of the 36 winners in MAAC Men’s Cross Country Championship History, Iona College has 31 in its program history.

The 2016 MAAC Men's Cross Country Rookie of the Year is Jac Hopkins from Iona College. He finished in second overall with a time of 24:38.64. Joining Hopkins on the All-Rookie Team is: Zachary Ropes from Fairfield University, Ryan Rafferty from Monmouth University, Donovan Glavin from Canisius College, and Evans Kibet from Siena College.

Iona College recorded the top eight finishers, with the top six separated by .6 seconds.
