FAIRFIELD, CT – Quinnipiac University defeated Niagara University in five sets, 3-2 (19-25, 25-21, 25-21, 17-25, 16-14) to advance to the 2016 MAAC Volleyball Championship Semifinals. The Bobcats will play in the MAAC Volleyball Championship Semifinals for the first time in program history.
Bobcats’ sophomore outside hitter Jen Coffey paced Quinnipiac with a team-high 17 kills. Sophomore setter Kat Miller put together a near triple-double with 13 kills, 10 digs, and nine blocks.
Quinnipiac’s freshman outside hitter Natalie Alechko recorded a double-double with 13 kills and 10 digs in the match. Junior middle hitter Elizabeth Kloos registered 10 kills, fives digs, and four blocks. Kloos hit a team-high .278 (10-for-18) on the night. Freshman setter Maria Pansari finished with a match-high 57 assists.
Niagara’s junior outside hitter Nicole Matheis recorded a double-double with a match-high 19 kills and 10 digs. Matheis hit .308 (19-for-52) on the evening. The 2016 MAAC Co-Libero of the Year, Rylee Hunt registered a match-high 23 digs.
Quinnipiac University will now face the number two seed Marist College in the Semifinals of the 2016 MAAC Volleyball Championship on Saturday, November 19 at 5:00 p.m. The 2016 MAAC Volleyball Championship takes place at George Bisacca Court at Alumni Hall from the campus of Fairfield University. The game will be aired live on ESPN3.
