Quinnipiac Defeats Marist to Advance to the 2016 MAAC Volleyball Championship Game

FAIRFIELD, CT – Quinnipiac University defeated Marist College, 3-1 (25-18, 22-25, 25-23, 26-24) to advance to the 2016 MAAC Volleyball Championship Game. The Bobcats will play in their first MAAC Volleyball Championship Game in program history.

Quinnipiac’s sophomore setter Kat Miller recorded a double-double in the Bobcats’ semifinal victory. Miller finished the match with a team-high 13 kills and 10 digs. The sophomore added four blocks on the evening.

Bobcats’ junior middle hitter Elizabeth Kloos registered 10 kills and four blocks. Kloos hit a team-high .381 (10-for-21) en route to victory. Senior middle hitter Allison Leigh notched eight kills, three blocks, and hit .350 (8-for-20). Sophomore outside hitter Jen Coffey recorded 12 kills and freshman setter Maria Pansari tallied a match-high 43 assists, seven digs, and three aces.

Freshman outside hitter Nikki DeSerpa led Marist with 16 kills and five digs. DeSerpa hit .556 (16-for-27) in the match. The 2016 MAAC Volleyball Rookie of the Year, Megan Fergus added 14 kills and four blocks for the Red Foxes. Senior libero Lexi Millington registered a match-high 15 digs.

The Bobcats hit .266 (51-for-124) on the evening, while the Red Foxes hit .224 (57-for-134) as team.

Quinnipiac will now face the number one seed Fairfield University in the 2016 MAAC Volleyball Championship Game on Sunday, November 20 at 2:00 p.m. The 2016 MAAC Volleyball Championship takes place at George Bisacca Court at Alumni Hall from the campus of Fairfield University. The game will be aired live on ESPN3.
