Marist Eliminates Niagara with 6-0 Win in Game Four of the 2008 MAAC Softball Championship

Fairfield, Conn. ? Fourth-seeded Marist College (23-29) took a 6-0 victory over second-seeded Niagara University (27-21) in game four of the 2008 MAAC Softball Championship at Alumni Softball Field on the campus of Fairfield University.
The Red Foxes got on the scoreboard in the bottom of the second inning, with McCallion Campbell knocking an RBI single to left field to bring in pinch runner Heather Viola, and Kate Molloy reaching on a sacrifice fly by Alanna Woody.
Marist continued its offensive effort in third as Jessica Green doubled to left center to allow Melissa Giordano and Pamela de la Llave to give the Red Foxes a 4-0 lead.
In the bottom of the fourth inning, de la Llave sent an RBI single through the left side to bring home Campbell and Giordano scored on a fielder’s choice to make it a 6-0 game.
Marist’s Megan Rigos improved to 17-15 on the mound with the complete-game win, while Niagara’s Heather Viola ended the season at 10-4.
Marist will play Fairfield in Game 5 at approximately 4:00 p.m. today.
