JERSEY CITY, NJ ? Joe Agrest has been named the Saint Peter’s College Head Women’s Volleyball Coach. Agrest takes over the program from Mike Massone, who is remaining at Saint Peter’s as the head coach of the men’s and women’s cross country and track and field programs.
Agrest brings more than 25 years of successful coaching experience with men’s and women’s volleyball teams at the Junior Olympic, college and adult levels. He comes to Saint Peter’s after being the head coach at the Globe Institute of Technology in New York City where he coached the team to a 16-8 record and was District Runner-Up.
"Joe Agrest brings vast experience and enthusiasm to the volleyball program and the department of athletics," said Patrick Elliott, Saint Peter’s College Director of Athletics. "His dedication to the sport of volleyball and to the student-athletes make him a great asset to the Saint Peter’s coaching staff."
Agrest has been the Director of the JCHB JO Volleyball Club in Bensonhurst, Brooklyn, NY. While director of the program, it has grown to nearly 100 players and has been an annual participant at the International Junior Maccabi games since 2003. In 2006, his team won the Maccabi Championship and in 2007 they won the Bronze Medal.
Before arriving in the United States, Agrest was the Head Volleyball Coach at a Specialized Sports School in Gryazi, Russia for 11 years. He built the volleyball program from scratch and coached 12 teams to the state finals. He also coached 12 players that were named All-State.
