The NCAA Division I Championships/Sports Management Cabinet agreed to permit the Women's Rowing Committee to grant automatic qualification into the championship beginning with the 2011 championship.

The cabinet directed the Women's Rowing Committee to provide a plan for providing automatic qualification when eligible conferences exceed 50 percent of the bracket.

"Automatic Qualification is an important step in the development of the Women's Rowing Championship," Marshall Foley, chair of the Women's Rowing Committee and Associate Commissioner/Championships at the MAAC, said. "AQs will provide championship access across the breadth and depth of the NCAA institutions that sponsor women's rowing, and this access is one of the hallmarks of NCAA championship events.

"The MAAC will be eligible for an AQ beginning in 2012, and championship participation is a positive step for all of the MAAC women's rowing programs and student-athletes."
