Nichole Schiro,
Loyola Women's Soccer
Jr. Forward,
Okemos, Mich.
After an outstanding 2010 season, Nichole Schiro
has started this year right where she left off a year ago. Schiro has been the
catalyst for the Greyhound offense this season, leading the team in goals (2)
and points (6), while tying for the team lead in assists (2). The junior was
particularly impressive over a two-game stretch on Sept. 2 and Sept. 4, as she
helped the Greyhounds score six goals in two games against High Point and Saint
Louis. Schiro scored two goals and dished out two assists for a total of six
points for the weekend. In Loyola's, 3-2, loss to High Point, Schiro provided a
spark in the second half with the Greyhounds trailing 2-0. The forward assisted
on the team's first goal and then later tied the game on a breakaway with her
first goal of the season. In the Greyhounds', 4-2, win over Saint Louis, Schiro
gave Loyola a, 2-1, lead in the first half when she received a long pass over
the top of the Billiken defense and popped the ball over the top of the
charging keeper before finishing into an empty net. Schiro added an assist on
Loyola's fourth goal. With her effort, Schiro now ranks fourth on the Loyola
all-time list in career goals (26) and fifth in career points (61). The Okemos,
Mich., native has also been a standout in the classroom, registering a 3.89 GPA
while majoring in Biology
