Kelley, Gaye chosen as XC Runners of the Week

Edison, NJ – Fairfield’s
Connor Kelley and Marist’s Michelle Gaye were selected as the MAAC Men’s and Women’s
Runner of the week, respectively.
Freshman Connor Kelley led the Stags to victory at the 35th Annual Fr.
Victor Fr. Leeber, S.J. Invitational on Saturday by winning the
men’s 8K on a hot and humid day on Fairfield’s campus. Kelley posted a winning
time of 26:37.56 in a field of 82 runners beating out the second-place finisher
by more than two seconds. The Stags successfully defended their team
championship, placing first out of nine teams.
Gaye was the individual winner as she helped lead Marist to a team championship
at the Ted Owen Invitational on Saturday at Central Connecticut State. She
completed the 5K course in a personal-best time of 18:04, the conference's
best 5K time of the season. It was Gaye's second individual title in three
career races, as she also finished first at the season-opening Marist
Invitational.
The 2011 MAAC Men’s and Women’s Cross Country Championships will be held
on October 28th at Van Cortlandt Park in Riverdale, New York.
