Edison, NJ - The 2011 MAAC Men's and Women's Cross Country Championships are set for Friday, October 28th at Van Cortlandt Park in Bronx, NY. The women's race will begin at noon, while the men's race is scheduled for 12:45 p.m.

The MAAC Cross Country Championships return to Van Cortlandt Park after the athletes competed at Hammonassett Beach State Park last season.

The storylines of this year's meet surround the Iona College Gaels once again. The Iona men's team, currently ranked #10 in the nation, has won 20 straight MAAC Cross Country Championships and will look to continue their winning ways. Runners Alex Soderburg, Mitch Goose and 2010 NCAA Regional Champion Leonard Korir are returning for the Gaels and will be called upon to keep the streak alive.

On the women's side, the Gaels have won six straight conference titles and are ranked 10th in the Northeast Region according the most recent USTFCCA poll. The Iona women could see some stiff competition from the likes of Loyola and Marist. The former is ranked 14th in Mid-Atlantic Region of the USTFCCA poll while the latter has posted team meet finishes in the top-10 all season.

Complete individual and team results will be posted at MAACSports.com immediately following the meet.

The MAAC will conclude the day's events by honoring the best and brightest from the 2011 cross country season at an awards banquet scheduled for 2:30 p.m. on the Manhattan College campus. Fans can follow the banquet beginning at 3 p.m. on MAAC.TV. Click here to view the live events page.
