Corban Bothell has made an immediate impact in his rookie campaign with the
Niagara Purple Eagles, nabbing top honors in both the 500 yard freestyle and
the 1000 yard freestyle in the previous two meets. He contributed to the men's
first win of the 2011-12 campaign against Fredonia on Oct. 21 with a final
score of 126-115. The Centerville, Utah native finished first in the 1000 yard
freestyle with a time of 10:15.52 and the 500 yard freestyle (5:04.00). Bothell
also anchored the winning 200 yard medley relay team, clocking in at 1:39.33. In
the men's 143-88 loss to Cleveland State on Oct. 15, the applied fine arts
major had two come from behind wins in the 1000 freestyle in a time of 10:00.63
and the 500 free, finishing in 4:53.76. He and his teammates nabbed second
in the 200 yard medley relay with a score of 1:38.82.

Lauren Balmert was named to the 2011 Capital One Academic All‐District I First
Team on November 10. It is the third consecutive year in which she has
earned Academic All-District honors and the first time she's achieved First
Team status as she goes on the national ballot for Academic All-America
consideration. The economics major boasts a 3.88 grade point average in the
classroom. On the court, she is fifth all-time at Fairfield in assists with
2,231. This season, she has collected 214 and 18 services in 87 sets.
