Roman Ewald, Manhattan Men's Track & Field
Sr. - Olching, Germany

Ewald has qualified for the IC4A Indoor Championships in both the shot put and weight throw for the first time. He achieved qualifying marks in both events at the Manhattan College Opener on Dec. 1.  Ewald finished second in the shot put with a throw of 16.10 meters (52 feet, 10 inches), then won the weight throw competition by more than two meters. His winning throw was 17.35 m (56'11¼).  Ewald bettered that mark at the Brother Jasper Invitational on Dec. 9, throwing the weight 17.40 m (57'1).  This marks the third straight year in which Ewald has qualified for the IC4A Indoor Championships, but the first time he's made it in both events. The Co-Most Outstanding Performer for Field Events at last year's MAAC Outdoor Championships, Ewald competed in three events (shot put, discus, hammer throw) at the 2011 IC4A Outdoor Championships. He's also a four-time MAAC All-Academic selection, and was named to the USTFCCCA All-Academic Team in 2010.
