Morris, Cronin, Molloy and Tobias Honored With Weekly Awards

Brennan Morris was named the MAAC Men's Swimmer of the Week, while fellow Greyhound
Caitlin Cronin earned the award on the women's side. Marist's Sean Molloy and Kimberly Tobias swept the Divers of the Week Awards.
Morris claimed three individual titles at Rider on Saturday,
running his streak of undefeated races this season to 17 straight. In addition,
he set a new pool record in the 500-yard freestyle, finishing with a time of
4:37.88. In the 200-yard breaststroke, he finished in 2:09.42, while he led all
competitors in the 1000-yard freestyle with a time of 9:30.16. Morris was also
a member of the Greyhounds' 200-yard medley relay team of Jeffrey Rowe, Patrick
Mukri and Julien Brice that finished runner-up in 1:37.27.
Cronin went undefeated in a dual meet at Rider on Saturday,
winning three individual titles and one relay. She narrowly missed pool records
in the 50-yard freestyle and the 100-yard freestyle, winning the 50-yard
freestyle in 24.51 and the 100-yard freestyle in 52.76. She also claimed top
honors in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:53.12, while she anchored the
Greyhounds' 400-yard freestyle relay of Mary Henkels, Lauren Mari and Brianna
Keelan to victory in 3:37.21.
Molloy
had a strong afternoon of competition on Saturday, Jan. 14 at Southern
Connecticut State as he qualified for the NCAA Zone A Diving Championships for
the first time in his young career in the 3-meter board. The sophomore scored a
career-high 330.83 points on his way to an 81.38 point victory. He was held off
from his second victory of the day in the 1-meter board by teammate freshman
Jacob Baker.
Tobias
had an excellent diving meet for Marist at Southern Connecticut State on Jan.
14. The freshman swept of the 1-meter and 3-meter boards with scores of 263.24
and 257.39, respectively. In both competitions, Tobias earned victories by over
20 points with a 28.5 win in the 1-meter and a 20.47 win in the 3-meter board.
The 2012 MAAC Swimming & Diving Championships will be held Thursday, February 16
through Saturday, February 18, 2012 at Erie Community College in
Buffalo, NY, hosted by Canisius College and Niagara University.
