Niagara Hosts Manhattan on Sunday on ESPN3

Edison, N.J. - The next matchup on the 2011-12 MAAC Basketball Broadcast Schedule features Niagara University hosting Manhattan College on Sunday, January 29. Game time is slated for 4:00 p.m. at the Gallagher Center, and the National MAAC Game of the Week will air live on ESPN3.

Manhattan, 15-7 overall and 8-2 in the MAAC, is led by junior guard/forward George Beamon, who is contributing 18.0 points and 5.7 rebounds per game, and freshman forward Emmy Andujar, who is posting 8.6 points and 5.1 rebounds an outing for the Jaspers.

Niagara, 9-13 overall and 4-6 in the MAAC, is led by freshman guard Juan'ya Green, who is registering 17.2 points and 4.5 assists per game, and redshirt freshman Antoine Mason, who is averaging 15.3 points and 4.6 rebounds an outing for the Purple Eagles.

Manhattan won the first meeting this season with a 71-64 victory over Niagara on Jan. 22 in Riverdale, New York. Beamon scored 24 points to lead Manhattan, going 8 of 10 from the free-throw line. Michael Alvarado made 11 of 12 free throws, finishing with 13 points to lead a strong foul-shooting effort by the Jaspers. Manhattan made 83.3 percent of its free throws (25 of 30), including 20 of 21 in the second half. The Jaspers built a 31-24 lead at halftime, holding Niagara to just 8 of 28 from the field (28.6 percent). The Purple Eagles finished shooting 38.3 percent (23 of 60) and were outrebounded, 38-31. Mason led Niagara with 19 points, and Marvin Jordan and Ameen Tanksley added 12 each.
