Senior Taryn Johnson powered Fairfield to a 2-0 week,
averaging 15.0 points, 6.5 rebounds, 3.0 assists, 3.5 steals, 1.5 blocks, and yielded
a 3.0 assist-to-turnover ratio. Johnson shot 56.3 percent from the floor
(9-for-16) and 92.3 percent from the free throw line, netting 12 of 13
attempts, including 11 straight. In Fairfield's win over Manhattan, Johnson
posted 10 points and six rebounds with two blocks and two steals; she also went
6-for-6 from the free throw line. In the Stags' victory at Iona, Johnson posted
20 points, including 15 in the second half, grabbed seven rebounds, handed out
five assists, tied a career-high with five steals, and blocked a shot while not
turning the ball over.
Rookie of the Week
Kara Marshall, Loyola
Fr., G, 5-8, Gaithersburg, Md./Gaithersburg
Marshall paced the Greyhound offense in a 1-1 road weekend in
Buffalo, N.Y., averaging 21.5 points, 3.5 rebounds, 2.5 steals and 1.5 assists
in 36.5 minutes of action. The Gaithersburg, Md., native also hit 15 of her 28
field goal attempts (53.6-percent), including seven-of-17 from 3-point range
(41.2-percent). Marshall started the weekend with a career-high 21 points to go
with four steals in a loss at Canisius. She followed that by once again setting
a career-high with 22 points on eight-of-12 shooting while hitting five
3-pointers in a win at Niagara. Marshall also had four rebounds in the game and
hit 75-percent of her free-throw attempts over the weekend. Overall she
accounted for 43 of Loyola' 123 points for the weekend (35-percent).
