Iona to Host Canisius on Thursday on ESPN3

Edison, N.J. - The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference continues its 2011-12 MAAC Basketball Broadcast Schedule with Iona College hosting Canisius College on Thursday, February 2. Game time is slated for 7:00 p.m., and the National MAAC Game of the Week will air live on ESPN3.
Canisius, 4-17 overall and 1-10 in the MAAC, is led by junior guards Harold Washington and Alshwan Hymes. Washington is averaging 16.8 points and 4.0 rebounds per game, and Hymes is posting 14.6 points and 2.9 rebounds an outing for the Golden Griffins.
Iona is currently 17-5 overall and 9-2 in the MAAC. The Gaels are led by senior forward Mike Glover, who is averaging a league-high 18.8 points and 9.0 rebounds per game, and junior guard Lamont Jones, who is registering 14.9 points and 3.3 rebounds a night for the Maroon and Gold.
On December 2, 2011, Jermel Jenkins came off the bench to score 17 points and Iona used a second-half spurt to beat Canisius, 69-57, in the MAAC opener for both teams. Jones and Taaj Ridley added 12 points apiece for the Gaels, who have won 18 of the last 25 games in the series and seven of the last 10. The Golden Griffins were led by Washington with 22 points. Reggie Groves added 11 points, Hymes chipped in 10 and Chris Manhertz grabbed a career-high 10 rebounds.
