Three Schools Honored With MAAC Rowing Weekly Awards

The Robert Morris Varsity Four A boat, featuring senior Chelsea Thornton, juniors Gretchen Gailey and Ashley Wright, sophomore Megan Coleman and freshman Julie Miller, posted the top time in its heat of 7:53.26. They advanced to the grand final and earned a second-place medal with a time of 7:41.34, trailing only Penn State, which crossed the finish line in a time of 7:34.58. The Colonials earned second place after defeating Mercyhurst by half a second, as the Lakers posted a time of 7:41.87.
Women's Varsity Eight
The Marist Varsity Eight boat of Angie Carafas, Flavia Siclovan, Maggie Kolb, Sarah Wagner, Meg Ladouceur, Tory Mather, Kelsey Butta, Jennifer Delisle and coxswain Zoe Christopher finished with a time of 7:09.09, just three seconds behind UConn and four seconds ahead of Trinity. They finished seven seconds closer to UConn than their previous meeting last week. Then, at the Sacred Heart Invitational on Sunday, they took first place by 18 seconds with a time of 7:26.2.
Men's Varsity Four
The Loyola University Maryland men's varsity four boat of Thomas Quinn, Ryan Walsh, Jordan Mastera, Joe Wawrzynski and Christopher Golon placed third at the Occoquan Sprints on Sunday in Fairfax, Va. The group navigated the course in 7:00.6, finishing less than half a second behind second-place Virginia while Duke took first. The boat beat out teams from VCU, La Salle and George Mason.
Men's Varsity Eight
The Marist Varsity Eight boat, consisting of Harrison Reed, Andrew Sayles, Seaton Drebitko, Matt Michaud, Chris Behnke, Max Kenney, Doug Woolley, Sam Garrison and coxswain Chris Leonard finished just five seconds behind Trinity and 56 seconds ahead of UConn with a time of 6:09.7 on Saturday. The next day, they won their race by a full 20 seconds over Iona with a time of 6:26.4.
