Edison, NJ - Manhattan College's Anastas Papazov was chosen as the MAAC Men's Outdoor Track & Field Performer of the Week, while Rider University's Nicole Tassello earned the award on the women's side.
Papazov finished third in the hammer throw at the Sam Howell Invitational on Friday. With a personal-best effort of 66.08 meters (216 feet, nine inches), Papazov moved into seventh place on Manhattan's all-time list. He also competed at the Roadrunner Invitational on Saturday, placing fourth in the shot put (14.79 m, 48'6¼) and sixth in the discus (44.76 m, 146'10).
Tassello, a junior from Suffern, N.Y., won the 10,000-meter run at the Colonial Relays hosted by William & Mary. Tassello finished in 37:11.06, which qualifies her for the ECAC Championships.
The 2012 MAAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships will be held Saturday, May 5 and Sunday, May 6 on the campus of Rider University in Lawrenceville, N.J.
