Wagner Earns 5-4 Win over Marist in MAAC Water Polo Semifinal

Poughkeepsie, N.Y. - Third-seed Wagner College earned a 5-4 victory over second-seeded Marist College in the second semifinal of the 2012 MAAC Women's Water Polo Championship, held at Marist's McCann Natatorium.

Becca Hannings finished the day with two goals to her credit, while Chelsea Beck, Lauren French and Stacy McGregor added one goal apiece for the Seahawks.

The Red Foxes had four players score one goal each: Jessica Hamby, Jaclyn Puccino, Desiree Desaulniers and Kelly Kline.

Wagner will play top-seeded Iona College (23-11) for the championship title at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 29. Marist will face fourth-seeded Villanova University in the consolation game tomorrow at noon.

The winner of the 2012 MAAC Water Polo Championship will receive an automatic berth to the 2012 NCAA Water Polo Championship, which will be held May 11-13 at the Aztec Aquaplex in San Diego, Calif.
