Poughkeepsie, N.Y. - Top-seeded Iona College defeated fourth-seeded Villanova, 15-6, in the first semifinal of the 2012 MAAC Women's Water Polo Championship, held at Marist College's McCann Natatorium.
The Gaels had six players register two goals apiece, including First Team All-MAAC performer Amy Olsen.
Junior Julia Penkal paced the Wildcasts with two goals this afternoon.
Iona will play the winner of the semifinal game between #2 Marist and #3 Wagner College for the championship title at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 29. Villanova will face the loser of the second semifinal in the consolation game tomorrow at noon.
