Siena Wins 2012 MAAC Women's Golf Championship

Lake Buena Vista, Fla. - Siena College won its 12th consecutive women's golf title by a commanding 53 shots at the 2012 MAAC Golf Championships at Disney's Magnolia Golf Course in Lake Buena Vista, Fla. The Saints become the first MAAC team to receive an automatic bid to the NCAA Women's Golf championships.

Siena freshman Victoria Nguyen led the way as she claimed the McLeod Memorial Award as the conference's individual champion with a three-day total of 225 (+9). Nguyen is the fourth Siena golfer to win the award in the last five years.

The Saints' won the title with a total score of 939. Fairfield University finished second with 992. University of Hartford was third with an even 1000, followed by Boston University (1017), Niagara University (1024), and University at Albany (1067).

Siena head coach Dave Wronowski was voted the 2012 MAAC Women's Golf Coach of the Year.

Boston University's Krystina Pavlickova earned MAAC Rookie of the Year honors, which is based on regular season Golfstat rankings.
