Edison, NJ - The 2012 MAAC Men's and Women's Outdoor Track Championships will be held this weekend, May 5-6, at Rider University in Lawrenceville, N.J.
The meet begins at 4 p.m. on Saturday with the hammer throw, javelin, and long jump. Running events will start at 4:30 p.m. with women's 4x800-meter relay. The 3000-meter steeplechase and the 10000-meters will also take place on Saturday. Admission on Saturday is free.
The bulk of the meet is on Sunday with a trio of field events starting at 11 a.m. At noon, the men's 4x100-meter relay will kick off the day's running events. Admission on Sunday is $15 for adults and $5 for children and students with a valid ID. Tickets can be purchased on maac.ticketleap.com.
The MAAC will hold its annual awards banquet following the completion of the meet on Sunday. Video will be posted in the Awards Show channel on MAAC.TV.
The Manhattan College men's had won 13 consecutive team titles heading into last year's meet, but Rider ended the streak in convincing fashion with a near 100 point victory. The two, along with Saint Peter's College, are expected to compete again for the championship. Manhattan claimed the the 2012
The Saint Peter's women will be looking to continue their success after winning two consecutive MAAC indoor titles and last year's outdoor championship. The Peahens will face stiff competition from Manhattan, winners of 12 of the last 15 outdoor MAAC championships.
