BALTIMORE -
The Loyola University Maryland men’s golf team learned Monday night that
it will head to Athens, Ga., to compete in the NCAA Regional hosted by
the University of Georgia at the University of Georgia Golf Course.
The Greyhounds won their fifth-straight MAAC Championship to qualify for the NCAA Regional. They will
compete against 12 other teams at the event; Alabama, North Florida, New
Mexico, Iowa, East Carolina, Long Beach State, Augusta State, Wake
Forest, Houston, Texas-Arlington, UNC Wilmington and the host Bulldogs.
The Atlanta Regional will be a 54-hole tournament, conducted May
17-19. Thirteen teams and 10 individuals not on those teams will compete
at the regional, with the low five teams and the low individual not on
those teams advancing to the finals.
Senior Jay Mulieri
led the Greyhounds at the MAAC Championships, winning the individual
title with a 4-under 212 to become the 10th Greyhound to earn the McLeod
Memorial Award. As a team, Loyola finished with a league-record 4-over
