Game Three: Fairfield 2, Iona 1 (15 innnings)
Second-seeded Fairfield advanced to the MAAC Softball Championship round for the second consecutive year with a 2-1 victory over top-seeded Iona College. The Gaels scored their lone run in the bottom of the sixth inning as Allison Hand sent a solo home run over the left field fence. The Stags then tied the game in the top of the 7th as Lauren Liseth sent the ball deep over center field with two outs. It then took eight more innings to decide the contest, as Rae Ball scored off a double by Kimi Kurata. Ball was credited with the win, improving to 14-10 on the season after pitching four innings and striking out two batters. Sarah Jackson took the loss for Iona, dropping to 16-12 on the year, fanning 13 batters in nine innings of work.
Game Four: Canisius 4, Marist 1Game Four: Canisius 4, Marist 1
Third-seeded Canisius evaded elimination with a 4-1 win over fourth-seeded Marist. In the top of the fourth inning, the Griffs got on the scoreboard first as Lizzy Gatto scored on a sacrifice squeeze bunt. Canisius then added three more runs in the top of the fifth with Erica Afanador scoring on double by Lauren Falzone to left field and Valorie Nappo singling to left field to bring in Falzone and Katie Lancelotti. Marist scored its lone run in the fifth when Danielle Koltz singled to center field to allow pinch runner Nicole Van Loan to cross home plate. Caroline Main was credited with the win, and Jen Consaul got the save for Canisisus. Emily Osterhaus finished the season at 11-10 in the circle for Marist.
Game Five: Iona 5, Canisius 0
Jodi Petersen went 2-3 with two runs scored to help lead Iona to a 5-0 win over Canisius. Alyssa Maiese, the MAAC Co-Player of the Year, took the win, fanning eight batters in her complete game effort. Jen Consaul ended the season with a 9-10 record for the Griffs.
Iona will now face Fairfield in the championship round on Saturday, May 12. Game six will start at 12:00 p.m., with Fairfield as the home team. If Iona wins game six, game seven will be played to determine who earns the MAAC's automatic bid to the NCAA Championship.
