RIVERDALE, N.Y. - MAAC champion Manhattan College found out its NCAA Tournament destination and opponent during a team viewing party at Café 1853 on Monday afternoon. The Jaspers (33-25) drew the No. 4 seed in the Columbia, S.C., Regional and will face two-time defending National Champion South Carolina (40-17) at 4 p.m. on Friday. The entire Columbia Regional will be televised live on ESPNU.

Manhattan earned its second straight MAAC championship with an 11-inning, 3-2 victory over Canisius on Sunday. The Jaspers became the first team in MAAC history to win the conference title after losing their first game of the tournament.

This will be the fourth NCAA Tournament appearance in program history. Last season, the Jaspers were sent to Gainesville, Fla., where they fell to Florida (which lost to South Carolina in the finals of the 2011 College World Series) and Jacksonville. In 2006, Manhattan upset Nebraska in its opening game en route to the Lincoln, Neb., Regional final. Manhattan earned its first NCAA Tournament berth in 1957.

The other two teams in the Columbia Regional are second-seeded Clemson (33-26) and third-seeded Coastal Carolina (41-17).  The winner of the double-elimination regional will take on the winner of the Charlottesville, Va., Regional in the best-of-three Super Regional on the weekend of June 8-10.
