MAAC Leaders Named to NCAA Governance Positions

Edison, N.J. - Representatives from the MAAC and four of its member institutions were recently named to positions within the NCAA governance structure by the Division I Board of Directors.

Richard J. Ensor, Commissioner of the MAAC, was appointed to the Administration Cabinet. The group is responsible for electing members for the different committees of the NCAA and reviewing institution applications for reclassification to Division I status. The cabinet decides on a variety of issues brought to the NCAA by the leadership council and several different committees.

Bill Maher, Director of Athletics at Canisius College, will serve on the Leadership Council. Its 31 members comprise the primary advisory group to the Board of Directors on strategic and policy issues.

Eugene Marshall, Iona College's Athletics Director, will be on the Championships and Sports Management Cabinet. This 31 member group will oversee a number of committees, including all sport committees and the Football, Men’s Basketball and Women’s Basketball Issues Committees.

Lisa Archbald, Associate Athletic Director for Compliance/Senior Woman Administrator at Saint Peter's College, was named to the Legislative Council, the primary legislative body in Division I.

Bill Wnek, Associate Director of Athletics for Compliance and Student-Athlete Welfare at Loyola University Maryland, was appointed to the Awards, Benefits, Expenses, and Financial Aid Cabinet. It is one of six cabinets reporting to the NCAA Division I Leadership Council on policy issues and the Division I Legislative Council on NCAA legislative issues.
