Four MAAC Players Named 2012 ECAC Softball All-Stars

Four players from the MAAC were named to the 2012 ECAC Division I Softball All-Star Team.

Siena College junior third baseman Shannon Jones was named to the First Team along with Iona College red-shirt senior Alyssa Maiese at utility.

Jones led the MAAC in several categories during the 2012 campaign, including batting (.434), slugging percentage (.836), runs scored (46), hits (66), runs batted in (43), doubles (15), home runs (14) and total bases (127). In 50 games played this past year for the Saints, she also fielded 152 putouts and assisted on 52 more for a .979 fielding percentage.

Maiese ranked second on her team with her .324 batting average, and owned a .517 slugging percentage and a .410 on-base percentage as she helped Iona win its third straight MAAC title and a spot in the NCAA Championship. She tallied 58 hits, 26 runs scored and 43 RBI over 61 games for the Gaels. Maiese also aided Iona's efforts from the pitcher's circle, recording a record of 17-10 and a 1.30 ERA. In over 204 innings of work, she struck out 225 batters, including a league-best 90 batters struck out looking.

Fairfield University sophomore catcher Lauren Liseth earned a spot on the Second Team along with Siena sophomore Jessika-Jo Sandrini as the designated player. Both Liseth and Sandrini were named to the 2012 Softball All-MAAC First Team, while Sandrini was also named to the All-MAAC Second Team as a pitcher.

Liseth finished fourth on her team with her .276 batting average as the Stags advanced to the 2012 MAAC Softball Championship final round. She registered 47 hits, 37 runs scored, 32 RBI as well as a .453 slugging percentage. Liseth finished second in the MAAC for stolen bases with 20 this past season. Sandrini owned a .403 batting average, and also recorded 58 hits, 32 runs scored, 13 home runs, a .771 slugging percentage and a .473 on-base percentage over 49 games played for the Saints.
