NCAA Bracket Expansion Benefits Two MAAC Sports

Indianapolis, IN - The NCAA has announced bracket expansion for the Women's Lacrosse Championship and Women's Rowing Championship effective for the 2013 championships.
Pending approval by the NCAA Division I Championships/Sports Management Cabinet, the MAAC will be one of 13 conferences with an automatic bid and direct entry to the Women's Lacrosse Championship and one of 11 conferences with an automatic bid to the Women's Rowing Championship.
The NCAA Division I Women's Lacrosse Championship is expanding from its current size of 16 to 26. The expansion will eliminate play-in games, which the MAAC has regularly participated in. On cabinet approval, the selections for the championship will be announced on Sunday, May 5 and the First Round will be played on Friday, May 10.
The NCAA Division I Women's Rowing Championship will expand from its current size of 16 to 22. This will be the MAAC's first automatic bid in women's rowing. The dates for the 2013 Championship will remain the same, but the schedule and other details will be announced at a later date.
