Player of the Week
Caris Myles, Iona, So., Setter, 5-8, Rancho Cucamonga, CA/Los Osos/Temecula Valley
Sophomore Caris Myles ran a stellar offensive attack for the Gaels in their two conference victories this weekend. The second-year setter averaged 14.43 assists per sets with 101 helpers in seven sets played. Myles also posted 22 digs and hit .364 with five kills in 11 attempts. The 3.14 digs per game was third-best on the squad. Against Manhattan on Saturday, she recorded a career-high 59 assists in a four-set win and missed a double-double by just one dig. The next day vs. Saint Peter's, Myles recorded her team-best fourth double-double with 42 assists and 13 digs. More than 40% of her set attempts on the weekend were converted for kills. Iona's offense averaged more than 17 kills per set in its 2-0 week.
Libero of the Week
Lesli Akeo, Siena, Sr., Libero, 5-4, Kapolei, Hawaii/Kamehameha
Last year's co-Defensive Player of the Year had an excellent week at her libero post, averaging 6.83 digs per set while posting a .980 reception percentage with just two errors in 101 serve receives. Her highlight performance was a career-high 37-dig effort in just four sets against Canisius, her third 30+ dig performance already this season. In that match she ran her streak of match-high digs (for either team) to an astounding 11 straight games. Akeo also played a key role in the Saints 3-1 win over three-time defending MAAC Champion Niagara Saturday, registering 27 digs and handling all 32 serves she received without an error. Akeo leads the MAAC with 5.73 digs per set this season.
Rookie of the Week
Taylor Edmonds, Niagara, Fr., Right Side, 6-0, Richfield, Wisc./Germanton
Taylor Edmonds had an all-around solid performance in her first conference weekend against Siena and Marist. Edmonds had career-highs with seven kills and 18 total attacks against Siena. Edmonds was strong defensively, averaging 1.0 blocks per set, and led Niagara with five block assists at Marist.
