Rosas, Gaye Earn Cross Country Weekly Honors

University's Howie Rosas, was named the MAAC Men's Cross Country Performer of
the Week. Michelle Gaye of Marist College earned the Women's Cross Country
Performer of the Week award.
At
the 36th Annual Fr. Victor F. Leeber, S.J. Invitational, Rosas came away
with the individual title in the men's 8K, covering the course in 25:59 setting
a personal best. He out-ran 67 other runners and finished 19 seconds ahead of
the runner-up. Rosas has been the Stags' top runner in all three meets this
season and helped Fairfield finish first out of seven teams.
Gaye
ran the fastest 5K cross country time in program history on Saturday at the Ted
Owen Invitational, hosted by Central Connecticut State. She finished second, covering
the field in 17:40.46, helping Marist win the team title for the second year in
a row.
The
2012 MAAC Cross Country Championships will be held at ESPN Wide World of Sports
in Lake Buena Vista, Fla. on Saturday, October 27.
