Stapleton, Reis, and Volvoski Earn Volleyball Weekly Awards

Player of the Week
Caitlin Stapleton, Fairfield, So., Right Side, 6-2, Milford,
Conn./Foran
Sophomore Caitlin Stapleton recorded 27 kills (3.86/s), hit
.477, and posted six total blocks to help the Stags to a 2-0 week. In
Fairfield's 3-1 win over Siena, Stapleton tallied a match-high 12 kills on .429
hitting along with two blocks. In the Stags' 3-0 win over Marist, Stapleton
tallied a match-high 15 kills on .522 hitting, with four total blocks.
Libero of the Week
Kara Reis, Fairfield, Sr., Libero, 5-9, Ramona,
Calif./Poway
Senior libero Kara Reis tallied 44 digs (6.29/s), broke
Fairfield's career digs record, and at the service line, nearly broke an NCAA
single match record to highlight the Stags' 2-0 week. Reis also posted a .977
reception percentage with just one error in 44 attempts, six assists, two aces,
and a kills. In the Stags' 3-1 victory over Siena, Reis tallied 22 digs, tying
Fairfield's career record, and picked up two assists. In the Stags' 3-0 win
over Marist the following day, Reis not only broke Fairfield's career record
for digs, but she also served 20-consecutive points. Reis' streak of
20-straight came in the second set against the Red Foxes which is two points
shy of the NCAA Record yet ranks as the second-highest single match
performance. She entered the game when the Stags trailed 6-5, when she was
done, the Stags had toppled Marist 25-6. Reis finished with 22 digs, two aces,
a season-high four assists, and a kill. She currently has 1,696 career digs.
Rookie of the Week
Sydney Volvoski, Manhattan, Fr., Outside Hitter, 6-0,
Oswego, Ill./Oswego
Volovski continued her solid hitting in road matches against Rider
and Loyola, averaging 3.20 kills per set on the weekend. On Saturday afternoon against Rider, she
pounded a team-high 18 kills and hit .302 while also contributing four
digs. Then in the five-set win at Loyola
on Sunday, Volovski led the Jaspers with 14 kills to go along with five
blocks. She hit a combined .267 in the
two matches.
