Romansky, Akeo, and Edmonds Receive Weekly Awards

Player of the Week
Rachel Romansky, Fairfield, Jr., Setter, 5-8, Denver,
Colo./Wheat Ridge
Setter Rachel Romansky recorded a pair of double-doubles
to lead the Stags to a 2-0 week and to the top spot in the MAAC standings.
Romansky posted 99 assists (12.38/s) and 25 digs (3.12/s) along with seven
kills, three aces, and four total blocks. In the Stags' 3-0 win at Saint
Peter's, Romansky assisted on 45 of the Stags' 52 kills on the day and tallied
14 digs. She did a little bit of everything in the Stags' 3-2 victory at
Manhattan. She posted her fourth consecutive double-double and her 13th of the
season with 54 assists and 11 digs. Romansky also added six kills on .375
hitting, two aces, and tied a career-high with four total blocks.
Libero of the Week
Lesli Akeo, Siena, Sr., Libero, 5-4, Kapolei, Hawaii/Kamehameha
Akeo averaged 6.09 digs per set, and posted match-high
digs in all three Siena matches this past week. She began the week with 23 digs
in the Saints' home sweep of Iona. In the decisive third set, Akeo had 11 digs,
including four on one key late rally. Akeo then was the only player to reach 20
digs in the three-set sweep at Canisius, and she took the match over with her
service in the third set. With the set tied 2-2, Akeo served Siena to 11 straight
points and a 13-2 lead. Akeo finished
the week with 24 digs in a tough five-set loss at Niagara - seven more than any
other player for either team. She also tied for a match-high with two aces.
Akeo ranks in the top-5 nationally with 5.96 digs per set.
Rookie of the Week
Taylor Edmonds, Niagara, Fr., Right Side, 6-0, Richfield,
Wisc./Germantown
Freshman Taylor Edmonds played a major role by
recording career-bests in Niagara's wins over Canisius, Marist and Siena.
Edmonds racked up a career-high with 10 kills in NU's 3-1 win over Canisius on
Wednesday. She followed that performance with seven kills en route to a
career-high .545 hitting percentage against Marist on Saturday. In the comeback
win over Siena on Sunday, Edmonds finished with a career-high nine blocks (one
solo and eight assists), which are the most by a Purple Eagle since 2010.
