Player of the Week
Brianna Dixion, Fairfield, Sr., Outside Hitter, 5-8, Long
Beach, Calif./Los Alamitos
Dixion paced the Stags offensive attack in sweeps of
Niagara and Canisius to clinch the Stags 12th MAAC Regular Season crown in
program history. The senior averaged 5.50 points per set, as she hit .315 over
the weekend. Dixion posted a
double-double in the win over Niagara, with 14 kills and 14 digs. She then recorded a match-best 18 kills in
the win on Sunday, hitting .429 for the match.
Dixion had six digs on Sunday to give her 3.33 per set for the
week. She also had a solo block versus
Cansiius and an assist in the win over Niagara.
Libero of the Week
Kara Reis, Fairfield, Sr., Libero, 5-9, Ramona,
Calif./Poway
Reis averaged 7.83 digs per set as the Stags swept
Niagara and Canisius to capture the MAAC Regular Season crown. The senior had
47 total digs in the victories, with 24 in the win over Niagara and 23 more
against Canisius. She had an ace in each
of the matches, for two on the week, and also had seven assists, more than one
per set for the weekend.
Rookie of the Week
Courtney Shaw, Marist, Fr., 6-0, Right Side Hitter, Centennial,
Co./Grandview
Shaw finished off her rookie campaign with a bang this weekend,
setting career-highs on back-to-back days in Marist's two road wins. Overall,
Shaw finished with 27 kills, five blocks and a .258 hitting percentage. In
Saturday's five set win at Loyola, Shaw reached double digits in kills for the
first time in her career, finishing with 11, helping the Red Foxes avenge an
earlier five-set loss to the Greyhounds this season. She then sparked a
comeback win at Rider on Sunday, leading the team with 16 kills and setting a
new personal best in that category. She also added six digs a four blocks,
including one solo.
