Rookie of the Week
Sydney Coffey, Marist, Fr, G, 6-0, New Hope, Minn./HopkinsCoffey made her first career start, in just her third collegiate game, and had a huge impact as she sparked Marist to a 56-45 victory over Princeton, which entered the game ranked fourth in the country amongst mid-major schools. On the defensive end, Coffey was in charge of covering 2012 All-American Niveen Rasheed and held her to just 3-17 shooting for the game and forced her into five turnovers. Offensively, Coffey scored 13 points for the Red Foxes while more than doubling her previous career-high with 31 minutes. She finished 4-7 from the field and a perfect 4-4 from the free throw line. Her three-pointer late in the game extended Marist's lead to eight points and essentially iced the victory.
