West Windsor, N.J. - The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference announced the 2013 All-MAAC Rowing Awards, voted on by the league’s head coaches.
Winners were chosen for the varsity fours, varsity eights and second varsity eights for both the men’s and women’s programs.
On the men’s side, Jacksonville University won the top award for the men’s varsity four, which included coxswain David Waugh and rowers Shane Kennedy, Andrew Bechtold, Bernardas Vingilis and Sean Carney.
The Dolphins also tied with Marist College for All-MAAC honors for their men’s varsity eight boats. Jacksonville’s boat included coxswain Maycee Dioneda and rowers Chase Rowe, Brian Cosmillo, Jeremy Sobiech, Nathan Esterline, Scott Waitley, Preston Weinard, Jared Low and Scott Del Vecchio. Marist’s boat is comprised of coxswain Chris Leonard along with rowers Harrison Drouin-Reed, Seaton Drebitko, Chris Behnke, Jacob Enright, Dan Nesfeder, Matt Klos, Doug Woolley and Cameron Schuh.
The men’s second varsity eight boat from Marist earned conference honors. The boat consists of coxswain Emma Flynn and rowers Conor Wiggins, Matt Michaud, Kyle Mikesh, Chris Bissetta, Tyler Sawyer, Chris Lorenz, Billy Hawxhurst and Ben Smith.
On the women’s side, the varsity four boat from Fairfield University was the top choice amongst the head coaches. The Stags’ boat includes coxswain Mikayla Daniels and rowers Sam Matte, Kim Beatty, Jacquie Moser and Rachel Corbett.
Canisius College claimed the top honors for the women’s varsity eight. The Griffs’ boat includes coxswain Hannah Blum along with rowers Lynna Paradiso, Stephanie SanFilipo, Nancy Kennish, Liz McKinney, Bridget Laszewski, Nora Kennon, Monica Klenk and Liz Reinwald.
League honors went to Marist’s second varsity eight, with the boat represented by coxswain Erica Bogdan as well as rowers Brenna Logue, Kira Melendez, Brittany Morrisey, Megan Ladoceur, Annie Devorak, Nora Culhane, Danielle Villa and Samantha Blau.
Matt Lavin from Marist was named the 2013 MAAC Men’s Coach of the Year, while Joel Furtek from Canisius was chosen as the 2013 MAAC Women’s Coach of the Year.
