TRENTON, NJ – Game Four of the 2013 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Baseball Championship tournament, featuring No. 1 seed Rider vs. No. 3 seed Canisius in the “winner’s bracket,” was suspended due to inclement weather after four innings and will be resumed on Saturday at 2:00 p.m.

Game Five of the MAAC Baseball Championship, which will pit Siena against the loser of Game Four, will be played on Saturday at 6:00 p.m. Game Six of the tournament is scheduled for noon on Sunday, and will feature the winner of Game Four vs. the winner of Game Five. If an additional game is necessary to determine the tournament’s champion, it will begin shortly after the conclusion of Game Six.

Rider and Canisius battled to a 5-5 tie after four innings before the game was halted at 11:30 p.m. The game will be picked up in the top of the fifth inning with Canisius coming to bat. The start of the game was delayed for 2:47.

Canisius designated hitter Jesse Puscheck staked the Golden Griffs’ to a 4-0 lead in the top of the first when he slugged a grand slam home run off of Rider starter Kurt Sowa. Rider chipped away at the Griffs’ lead by scoring two in the bottom of the first on Nick Cresescenzo’s two-RBI single.

Ryan Coppinger’s sacrifice fly in the top of the fourth plated Jose Torralba to give Canisius a 5-2 advantage, but the Broncs’ struck for three in the bottom half of the inning to tie the score as James Locklear and Adam Wayman each had RBI singles. The game was then delayed for 33 minutes before it was declared suspended.

In the first game of Friday’s doubleheader, No. 4 seed Siena came out of the “loser’s bracket” to defeat No. 2 seed Marist, 12-5, and advance to Saturday’s 6:00 p.m. game. The first game of Friday’s scheduled doubleheader was delayed for 3:03 due to rain.
