Sean Armand poured in a team-high 30 points as Iona knocked George Mason from the ranks of the unbeaten with an 89-73 win. In the process he became Iona’s all-time three-point field goal leader. Armand, a preseason All-MAAC first team choice, hit 10-of-16 shots from the field and was 6-of-7 from the foul line against the Patriots. He sank 4-of-10 from beyond the three point arc, including career three-point number 264, surpassing Steve Burtt’s record of 263 set seven years ago. Earlier in the week, Armand scored 14 points in the Gaels’ loss at No.2/3 Kansas, in a game where Iona led throughout the first half, and with nine minutes left, trailed by just nine. Armand averaged 22 points, 3.0 assists, 2.5 rebounds and 1.0 steals for the week.
